What Is EPDM Roofing?

EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer) is often referred to as ‘rubber roofing’ because of its high-performance synthetic rubber membrane. It is one of the most popular flat roofing materials in Ontario because of its ability to withstand extreme temperature fluctuations, UV radiation and heavy rainfall.

EPDM rubber roofs are an excellent choice for a range of commercial properties with flat or low-slopped roofs; including warehouses, factories, office buildings, retail plazas, schools and colleges, hospitals and condominiums.

• Punctures & tears: These are easy to repair with patches and specialized adhesives.
• Seam failures: Often caused by improper installations, we can re-seal seams easily using manufacture approved tapes & adhesives.
• Flashing: General wear and tear can cause flashings to deterioriate, we can re-secure and re-seal these areas.
• Blistering: This is when air or moisture is trapped underneath your membrane, we can find the area causing this and replace the section.
• Ponding water: EPDM membranes are extremely waterproof, however ponding water can accelerate issues. We can replace these sections, however, if you experience a lot of ponding, then it is recommended at add a roof pitch.

EPDM roofing restorations can extend your roofs lifespan by 10-20 years! It is an excellent solution for properties that are experiencing frequent repairs but aren’t quite ready for a full replacement. EPDM restorations involve applying a protective coat over an existing EPDM roof; restoring waterproofing qualities, fixing minor damage and protects against UV rays.
